A man in his early 20s was rushed to hospital with a head injury after a fight in Croydon.

Police and ambulance were called to Cornwall Road in Croydon at 11.20pm to reports of a man injured in a fight.

The man with a head injury was found near Theobolds Road, however, and was rushed to hospital as a priority where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.

Police believe the assault took place in Wandle Park, Croydon not long before emergency services were called.

A crime scene was put in place and there have been no arrests.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were called at 23:20 hrs by London Ambulance Service to reports of a man injured in a fight at Cornwall Road, Croydon.

“Officers attended and a man, aged in his early 20s,  was found with a head injury in nearby Theobolds Road, Croydon.

“He was taken to hospital where his condition was not found the life threatening or changing. 

“The assault was believed to have happened in Wandle Park, Croydon a short while before the call.

“A crime scene was put in place

“There have been no arrest.

“Enquiries continue.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.17pm yesterday (22 August) to reports of an incident on Cornwall Road, Croydon.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car and a clinical team manager to the scene.

“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to hospital as a priority.”
