A man has died following a crash in Clapham in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, July 9).

Police were called to Clapham High Street at 2.41am to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.

Officers were at the scene with London Fire Brigade and medics from London Ambulance Service.

A man, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing to contact the man’s next of kin.

The driver involved in the crash did not stop at the scene.

A number of road closures are in place as officers continue to investigate.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 02:41hrs on Sunday, 9 July following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Clapham High Street, SW9.

“Officers attended alongside the London Fire Brigade and medics from the London Ambulance Service.

“Despite the effort of emergency services a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to contact his next of kin.

“The driver did not stop at the scene.

“A number of road closures are in place as officers continue to investigate.
