The leader of the House of Commons recently visited a matron and her vaccination team to thank them for their efforts with the vaccine roll out.

Jacob Rees-Mogg paid tribute to Matron Wendy Dyer and the small army of volunteers working at the St Nicholas Shopping Centre community vaccination site.

The visit was inspired by a recent mention of the vaccination centre’s matron in the House of Commons by Carshalton and Wallington MP Elliot Colburn.

During his visit, Wendy explained the patient journey through the vaccination centre – from the entrance through to the jab and following social distancing measures.

Matron Wendy Dyer said: “It was wonderful to have such a high-profile visitor as the Leader of the House of Commons at our vaccination centre and to showcase to him all the work we’re doing to protect people from Covid-19.

“For me, it was a pleasure to see the great efforts of our team get this recognition and to introduce him to some of the people working so hard to make our vaccination programme a success.

“The visit was a morale-boost for me as well as the staff and volunteers who continue to go above and beyond to protect people.

"Getting vaccinated is so important and is key to helping us to get us get back to normal life.”

Jacob Rees-Mogg commented: "I was so pleased to be able to visit the St Nicholas Vaccination Centre and meet Matron Wendy Dyer, after her mention in the House of Commons.

"Both meeting Wendy and witnessing the scale and organisation of the Vaccine Journey at St Nicholas were inspiring.

"The team led by Wendy are working impressively hard and I was delighted they could spare the time to demonstrate the difference they are making in vaccinating nearly 1,000 patients every day.

"Thank you to Wendy and her whole team for everything they are doing."
